After baptism class with Deacon Steve Deskevich is complete, please contact Karin @ (412)741-6650 ext. 310 to schedule the baptism.
You need only one Godparent. If you choose two, one must be male and the other one female.
One Godparent must be a practicing Catholic. The other may be a Christian witness, but may not be a former Catholic. Both Godparents must be baptized Christians.
Godparents must be at least 16 years of age.
If married, Godparents must be in a valid marriage recognized by the Catholic Church.
Godparents must have had all their Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation).
All Catholic godparents must obtain a sponsor eligibility certificate from his or her parish.
A Christian witness, if it poses no burden on the witness or their pastor, should obtain a note stating they are in good standing with their congregation.
The above-mentioned forms must be received at the parish office prior to the baptism date.
Baptisms are celebrated on Sundays after the 9:30 am Mass at Saint Mary Church and after the 11:00 am Mass at Saint James Church.
