LET US PRAY!

Growing up I can recall my parents always taking the time to teach me and my sisters the Catholic prayers. The familiar “Bless Us O Lord” prayer before meals and “The Angel of God my Guardian Dear” prayer at bedtime are familiar prayers that we all know. Prayer is a conversation with God our Father to guide and help us. This weekend we celebrate the Seventh Sunday of Easter, the readings focus on prayer.

In the first reading from the Acts of the Apostles, we read how the Apostles and the Blessed Mother meet in the Upper Room after the Ascension of the Lord. They are preparing to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. In the Second Reading from Peter, we read how an Apostle finds reason to rejoice even in the face of suffering. It is a way of sharing in the suffering of Jesus. In the Gospel of John, we continue reading Jesus’ “farewell discourse” at the Last Supper. Jesus offers us an example in the way he prays to the Father on behalf of his disciples, asking that they may know the only true God and the one whom he sent, Jesus Christ. Jesus clearly states that he is praying for his disciples. We are called to look at what Jesus’ resurrection means in our everyday life. When our lives get chaotic and we’re dealing with difficult situations, let us develop regular habits of prayer.

As we prepare for Pentecost next weekend, let us find a way to reach out to others who need our prayers.

LET US PRAY!

Memorial Day Mass on Memorial Day will be held at 9am. Please join us to remember those who gave their life to protect our country. The Rectory Offices will be closed for the holiday and will reopen on Tuesday, May 30 at 8:30am.

Parish Improvements Fratangelo Gardens of Moon Township recently cleaned out the old shrubs and bushes and grated the soil in our Prayer Path. In the next few weeks we will be working on installing a new drainage system and new lighting will be installed. Stay tuned for more pictures of the improvement project. Plants, shrubs and benches will be installed in the later part of the summer.

Donations are still being accepted for the Prayer Path. If you would like to make a donation please contact our Business Manager, Terri Price at the rectory at 412-741-6650 extension 312 or email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Flat Roof Replacement The Diocese of Pittsburgh has granted us permission to replace the Flat Roof on the Gathering Space, School Gym and connecting corridor that connects the school to the Gathering Space. Schultheis Roofing Inc. of Plum Boro has been awarded the contract. Work will begin June 26 and is expected to be completed by the end of July (pending weather.) Funds from Our Campaign for the Church Alive will cover the cost of the entire project. Florida Consulting and the Diocesan Office of Property and Planning will be assisting us with this project. Thank you to all who participated in the Our Campaign For the Church Alive to make this much needed project possible.

***Please note that the women’s restroom in the Gathering Space is currently closed for renovations for the next few weeks. The men’s restroom is still currently available. We appreciate your patience and understanding that there will be limited bathroom availability (one woman’s and one men’s restroom) available near the Usher’s Room during the Sunday liturgies.***
