A Word From Fr. Tom - 4.10.16

Today is the Third Sunday of Easter. In the First Reading from the Acts of the Apostles, we read how the Sanhedrin orders the Apostles to stop preaching and teaching. Peter and the other Apostles continue their mission. In the Second Reading from Revelation, we read how John declares the glory of Jesus, the Lamb of God. In the gospel we read the third appearance of Jesus after the Resurrection. Jesus encounters his disciples on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Jesus asks Peter three times if he loves him. The three affirmations of Peter are parallel to his three denials before the crucifixion. The setting of a fishing story with a miraculous catch, together with Jesus hosting a meal suggests this is a story of forgiveness. Jesus invites his Apostles and he invites all of us to “Follow Him.” Let us approach each day as a new opportunity to follow him with courage and fidelity.

Parish Improvements Gathering Space Renovations Underway! Renovations to the Gathering Space began several weeks ago with improvements to the two meeting rooms with new storage closets, updated lighting and ceiling tiles. Now the main room will undergo extensive renovations starting this week and remain under construction for several weeks. Please note for the next two weeks the Gathering Space will be closed Monday thru Friday from 6:00am to 5:00pm (including elevator access and the Gathering Space restrooms). New lighting, ceiling tiles, crown molding, and painting will be taking place. There will be no meetings or events held during the daytime period during construction. Please be patient! We appreciate your cooperation. Funds from our Building Fund and a donation from our Women’s Guild will help fund this very important project. New blinds and carpeting will also be installed upon completion of “Phase 1.”

Several new pamphlet racks were installed recently; one in the hallway near the children’s chapel and sacristy area and the other rack is located at the main entrance of the church. New sacristy cabinets and drawers will be installed in the next few weeks. Funds from the Campaign for the Church Alive are making this project possible.
