A Word From Fr. Tom - 12.25.16

Today we rejoice as we celebrate the birth of our Lord. May this day be joyful for you and let us celebrate the life and love that is around us this glorious day.

A very special welcome to all of our parishioners, family, friends and visitors who are with us this weekend!

On Mission For the Church Alive As we have been hearing at Mass and reading in the Pittsburgh Catholic Newspaper, throughout the year, the Diocese of Pittsburgh is beginning preparations for “On Mission For the Church Alive! which is a planning process that will change the structures, staffing, and pastoral strategies of every district in the Diocese in 2018.

As we prepare to move in the year 2017, we will begin the discussion sessions with priests and On Mission Team Members from our neighboring parishes. Our team includes: Jennifer Cowley, Jason Corsetti, Josh DeNinno, Jon Kuzma, MaryLu Giver, and Kathleen Wycoff.

Thank you to all who participated in the two consultation sessions this past October. The two possible models that were presented: POSSIBLE Model 1 is to merge with St. Mary in Aleppo Township, Sacred Heart in Emsworth and Assumption in Bellevue, and POSSIBLE Model 2 is to merge with Good Samaritan in Ambridge, St. John the Baptist in Baden and Sts. John and Paul in Wexford.

Based on careful consideration and prayer, research and listening to feedback, the team has designed an Alternative Parish Model for consideration by the diocese and On Mission Commission. The model contains an alternative that includes our cluster neighbors: St. Margaret Mary in Moon, St. Joseph in Coraopolis, as well as St. Catherine of Siena in Crescent. The team's work over the past months was driven not only by feedback and discussions with our parishioners, but also supported by research gathered by the team. We will keep you informed after the commission has an opportunity to respond.

Thank you for your openness and prayers as we begin moving forward to plan for the future of our parish and diocese.
