GOD’S WILL!

We all want to be “in control” of situations. We often want to get our own way with things. If we do not, then we cause a fuss, get mad, or run away from the situation. There are going to be unexpected things in life that are beyond our control. We need not to have fear, but to have faith.

Christmas is almost here! Next weekend we will celebrate the Birth of our Lord. Today we celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Advent. Today’s readings focus on making important decisions in life and trusting in God’s will. In the First Reading from the prophet Isaiah, we read how Isaiah invites King Ahaz to trust in the power of God. In the Second reading from the Romans, we read how Paul expresses his gratitude to God for the great privilege of preaching the gospel. Paul challenges us to go forward as apostles and spread the message that Jesus proclaimed. In the Gospel of Matthew, we read the infancy narrative often named the “Annunciation to Joseph” when an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him that Mary had been conceived by the Holy Spirit is pregnant with Jesus. Joseph did God’s will and adopted Jesus as his son. Mary remained a virgin, doing it “God’s way.”

As we prepare to celebrate Christmas next weekend, let us open up our hearts in doing God’s will and greet our family and friends with love and joy.

GOD’S WILL!

Also, if you are planning to move and change your address, or are not receiving the Pittsburgh Catholic newspaper please let us know so we can update our files. Year End Donations As you make decisions on your end contributions, please consider St. James Parish. An open donation helps us utilize your gift where it is most needed to run the day to day operations of our parish. If you would like, you can designate your donation to the Parish, School, or Parish Share. May God Bless you and your family this holy season.

Something to Think About… Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most. - Ruth Carter Stapleton
