COME TO THE FEAST!

We all receive them…. Invitations to birthday parties, anniversaries, weddings or holiday gatherings. Do we reply to the invitation immediately or do we forget about it and “get to it later” or never respond. As a courtesy to the person hosting the event we should reply yes or no.

This weekend we celebrate the Twenty-Eighth Sunday of Ordinary Time. The readings this weekend focus on God inviting us to join the Eucharistic Feast.

In the first reading from Isaiah, we read how a prophet describes the mountain of the Lord. It is a place of great blessings and where the Lord will nourish his people with a splendid feast. In the Gospel of St. Matthew, we read the Parable of the Wedding Feast. Jesus again addresses this parable, like last week, to the chief priests and elders. Jesus invites us to come to the feast. Do we say yes, or do we say no? Every week we have the first course of a meal with the Liturgy of the Word. The word taken from sacred scripture feeds our souls, hearts, and minds with his wisdom. In the second course of the meal we are fed with the Eucharist, the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. Today let us rediscover our invitation to the banquet of God’s kingdom and say YES to the Lord.

COME TO THE FEAST!

Blue and White Gala Please join us for our annual “Blue and White Gala” for St. James School on Saturday, November 11 at the Montour Heights Country Club in Moon Township. We are pleased to announce that this year we will honor Bob Basl with the Excellent Mind Award, and Judy Spanos with the Exceptional Heart Award. Both Bob and Judy have been very supportive of St. James School over the years. Please call the school office at 412-741-5540 to reserve your seat.

Mass Intention Sign Up Next Sunday, October 22 from 8:00am to 1:00pm in the Gathering Space we will have our books open for Mass intentions for 2018. Those who are physically unable to come in person to the Gathering Space can give it to another person or forms can be mailed or dropped off AFTER Monday, October 23. No forms can be accepted any earlier.

Please note that because of the On Mission For The Church Alive! process and the possibility of the new parish groupings having to change the Mass schedule, Mass intention times scheduled from September 1, 2018 thru December 31, 2018 could possibly move to another time. Thank you for your understanding and patience with this process.

Prayer Garden and Fish Pond Upgrade Project The third round of engraved commemorative bricks has been installed in our prayer garden near the Blessed Mother statue! Blue Fox Landscape Design of Gibsonia has finished with our fish pond improvements. A new filtering system has been installed and new coping was installed to secure the safety of the hand railing. Our fish are now happy to be in clean water!

Donations are being accepted for these upgrades. For a $50.00 or more we are offering an engraved commemorative brick installed on the prayer path. There is no limit now for the number of bricks that you can buy. For a donation of $1,000 or more you can have your family name listed on the back of a special “Major Gifts” Welcome Garden Sign that will be installed at the entrance of our garden.

If you would like to purchase a brick or make a major gift in memory or in honor of a loved one, please contact our Business Manager, Terri Price at the rectory at 412-741-6650 extension 312 or email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
