STRIVE TO ENTER THROUGH THE NARROW GATE!

Today celebrate the Twenty First Sunday in Ordinary Time. The readings this weekend focus on keeping a close relationship with Christ

In the first reading from the Book of Isaiah, we read how the nations make their way to Jerusalem. The prophet’s inclusive vision of salvation for all natures pictures God gathering nations of every language. In the Gospel from St. Luke, we continue traveling with Jesus and his disciples on their way to Jerusalem. Jesus portrays the way of discipleship as the narrow gate. He teaches his disciples and others about the requirements for being a disciple and entering the kingdom of God. It demands faith and discipline. Entrance is based not on exclusionary privilege or status, but rather on fidelity to God’s ways manifested by care and concern for all. A relationship with Christ gains entry through the narrow gate. Through our Baptism, God has invited us to the eternal kingdom. Let us pray today that we might receive the grace. Let us not feel that we are “entitled” to entrance into the kingdom of God. A relationship with Christ lived in love, gains entry through the narrow gate.

Four Years! It will be four years this week, August 27, that I began my ministry as your Pastor here at St. James Parish. Over the past for years, we have welcomed over 400 new families to St. James Parish and continue to improve the campus physical plant with much needed updated projects including the church roof, Gathering Space, and school cafeteria.

It is an honor to be your Pastor here at St. James. I love being a Priest and I love St. James Parish!

Something to Think About… Life is one big road with lots of signs. So when you’re riding through the ruts, don’t complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief, and jealousy. Don’t bury your thoughts; put your vision to reality. Wake up and live! - Bob Marley
