A Word From Fr. Tom - 05.21.17

This weekend we celebrate the Sixth Sunday of Easter. In the first reading from the Acts of the Apostles, we read how one of the original seven deacons, Philip, brings the Word of God to others and the early church grew. In the Gospel of John, we continue reading Jesus’ “farewell discourse” at the Last Supper as we read how Jesus promises to send his disciples another Advocate who will serve as a mediator, intercessor, comforter, and consoler. Jesus teaches his Apostles before his death and resurrection assuring them that the Advocate would come soon. Jesus says if you love me, you will keep my commandments. We are never truly alone. Loving Jesus means listening to his word and putting it into action. When we love others, we are willing to go out of our way for them, be concerned about them and spend time with them. With Pentecost Sunday only three weeks away, let us be open to the Holy Spirit and bring Christ to others.

She has been a true blessing to our parish. We wish her the best in her next adventure.
