PEACE BE WITH YOU!

This weekend we celebrate the Second Sunday of Easter, also known as Divine Mercy Sunday. In the First Reading from the Acts of the Apostles, we read how the early church grew in numbers after the Resurrection of Jesus. In the Second Reading from First Peter, we read about hope. We are encouraged to remain steadfast in faith. In the Gospel of John, we read the first encounter after the Resurrection of Jesus and his Disciples. He simply says, “peace be with you.” Thomas was not at the first encounter with the other disciples and had to see Jesus in order to believe that he truly had risen.

Jesus strengthens us when we have doubts and raises each of us above our human frailties. Through his mercy he brings us into communion with the Father. Let us open up our eyes today and see that Christ is in our midst.

PEACE BE WITH YOU!

Gathering Hymnals and Book Racks Over the past several months we have added new Gathering Hymnals to the pews. These hymnals now have ribbons and all the music and readings for the Sunday Masses. Recently we have also added new book racks in the middle of all the pews so that more people can enjoy the Hymnals to use during Mass. Thank you to all who contributed to this wonderful project. Donations are still being accepted. If you would like to make a $25 donation in memory or in honor of a loved one, please complete a form on the information tables and on the bulletin boards in the main and Gathering Space vestibule and return it to Terri Price, our Business Manager at the Rectory.

Finance Council It gives me great pleasure to welcome Dan Kerner to our Parish Finance Council. Dan was born and raised in Erie and graduated from Gannon University with a degree in Accounting. He is currently an Accounting Advisor for FedEx where he works to help account for the company’s worldwide portfolio of leases. Dan and his wife Johnna have two daughters; Hailey who is in Kindergarten at St. James School and Emma who is three years old. They currently reside in Ohio Township.

In Loving Memory Special thanks to the Amato and Vasiladiotis families for generously offering donations to St. James Parish in memory of Mildred Amato and Lyn Vasiladiotis. Please remember St. James in your living will or when making funeral arrangements for loved ones. It is wonderful to keep a loving member of the family in memory close to home.

Welcome A special warm welcome to Christopher and Jennifer DeAndrea, and Curt, Lindsey, Caden, and Clara Russell, who recently registered at St. James Parish.

Wedding Bells Congratulations to Thomas Melisko Jr, and Karen Bove who validated their Marriage last week. If you or you know someone who was not married in a Catholic ceremony but would like to validate their marriage, please give me a call.

Please note This Sunday we welcome Fr. Richard Terdine at the Sunday morning Masses. I am traveling to Des Moines, Iowa and Springfield, Illinois this week for my Spring retreat. Be sure of my thoughts and prayers as I travel to the mid-west.

Something to Think About… Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal. - Martin Luther King Jr.
