TRUSTING GOD!

This weekend as we celebrate the Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time, our readings focus on trust and trustworthiness and challenge our ability to let go of earthly worries and trust in God’s care. In today’s Gospel of Matthew, Jesus teaches that an undivided faithfulness to God puts all other worries and concerns in their rightful place. The real meaning of life is to trust in God.

There is no doubt that we have to plan for tomorrow - work, pay the bills, save for retirement, exercise and get routine checkups, etc. But fretting and worrying about the material values in the world prevents us from focusing our attention on what really is important. Instead of seeking to hold on to “things,” we have to let go and let God take over.

TRUSTING GOD!

North Hills Regional Catholic Elementary Schools, Inc. Last weekend Bishop David Zubik announced the implementation of the North Hills Catholic Regional School system which St. James School will be part of effective the 2017-18 school year. Ten Catholic elementary schools in the North Hills will become a ministry of all thirty-two parishes in the region. Each school will continue to have a principal while, a regional administrator: Michael C. Killmeyer, will oversee all the elementary schools in the region. The shared governance model is expected to be implemented in the future in all other regions of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Regionalization is intended to reinforce Catholic schools’ identity and mission, reallocate resources to enhance academic excellence and stabilize tuition and enrollment; and enable greater collaboration in curriculum, technology, professional development, athletics and fundraising. The elementary schools of the North Hills are the pioneers, showing the way for others to follow.
